Blog Post #8 - Compare and Contrast: Two Product or Two Restaurants

   In Korea, there were two big movie theaters one is CGV and another is Lotte Cinema. These two theaters always were compared with each other by their service, convenience and so on. But for that, CGV and Lotte Cinema have many similar things such as area size, ticket price, card discount, saved money, coupon book, VIP membership, hold some special event and located in department stores or multiplexs. Even CGV and Lotte Cinema have not their own special conept, so uaually people don’t avoid one side.

   But in my case, I like to participate in movie events so I found some different points of these two theaters by went a lot of time. First is screen location. In CGV, they fixed the screen about 2m up so when I saw the movie in fisrt line, I couldn’t see conveniently. But Lottecinema screen is fixed little down than CGV so in first lin, I could see well. Second is food selling. Popcorn, carbonated drink, Nacho, Churros and butter calamars grills are selled commonly. But popcorn size is different and other foods taste is also different. Lotte Cinema’s Churros and calamars grills are more delicious than CGV’s and CGV’s drink kind is more various than Lotte Cinema’s. Third is space of seats raw. I felt CGV is more spacious of each raw than Lotte Cimema’s but in first line, Lotte Cinema has stools for put on my legs or bag or clothes it can not see in CGV. Last is very important point for my hobby that is ticket. My hobby is collecting movie and concert ticket that I saw, so ticket means over evidence of “I saw this movie” but online reservation case, CGV don’t give ticket. They just give me a written movie name and time ticket, on the other hand Lotte Cinema give me a ticket that I wanted.

   Through these similar and contrast points, I choose Lotte Cinema as my best theater. Decisive reasons are ticket, convenient of seat and taste of butter calamars grills. But if CGV change their ticket rule, I have a mind that considering the best theater.

Blog Post #7 - Compare and Contrast: Two Places

  Different points between South and North Korea's cuisine

  Like everybody know it, Korea divided to South Korea and North Korea. Because their root is identical, so there two countries have almost same cuisine and food cultures. And plus, my mother’s parents’ side came from North Korea side in the Korean War, so I heard about North Korea’s foods since I was young, for theses reasons I choose the topic “Comparing and finding different points between South Korea and North Korea”.  

  First, like every cultures, South prefer strong seasoning and North is opposite side that is such as plain food. It can see by Korean traditional food Kimchi. South style Kimschi includes so many spicy seasonings, strong salted fishs and these are used for characteristic taste of each South cities. And the other side Kimchi includes various vegetables, light salted fishs and its taste is freshing, light and little sweet. Also it is better for health than South side Kimchi because of light taste.

  Next point is about food storage. Look at large, North side almost uses fermentation method and South side prefer making on the spot. Cause of these things is climate. For example, North Korea climate is most cold, so they started storage method for decreasing time of staying at outside. On the other hand, South side has milde climate than North so South side people could enjoy fresh taste of ingredient then, this way was developed and holded as making on the spot culture.

  Last is the New Year food. Every South Korean eat Tteokguk in the New Year however accoriding to my grandmother, North Korean eat Tteokguk with Wonton or Wontonguk only so, in the New Year my familiy eat Tteok- Wontonguk. I don’t know why this custome was divided but I think that is interesting.

  Through these different points, we can know about climate and area be able to make life syle that includes food and cuisine. Not only North and South side but also only in South side has various different things of cuisine and food in each cities such as Seoul and Busan. I think these points are enjoyed elements in Journey or live.

Blog Post #6 - For the Sake of Argument Part II

  These days, some head lines of news or internet newspaper are proplems about "School violence" or "Fallen the tescher's authority". These problems are guessed by wrong result of some parents during chaned by small family system. They also educated their childrens generously and this is the cause of childen's violence and selfish characters. Sure, most of parents are not like that but especailly now, the cases about violence and selifish tendency students are increased than before. So, many teachers said for bring their authority, they need little "Corporal punishment".

  Asia culture is not like Europe or America, many asia countries parents have educated by using proper corporal punishment. It doesn't mean "Famliy violence" it's notion of a part of family education and it should be undertsood as different culture. So, I think family education is connected with school education then teacher can use corporal punishment suitably. But I agree with some opposite opinion like "Don't corporal punishment about light mistakes" and "Corporal punishment, exceed the bounds, must not be permitted". Because that case is not education boundary, it's just school violence.

  So except some excessive punishment, little corporal punishment in proper situation should be admitted for the teacher's authority and it needs some institutional strategies for using correct.
