Blog Post #5 - For the Sake of Argument

  For development of mobile technology, we can see many wrong of society through the video share sites like “YouTube”. One of these frequenter issue is “Corporal punishment in school”. Because sometimes teacher’s corporal punishment scene was felt critical to a ludicrous excess, so here and there many people assert their argument “Prohibition of corporal punishment in school”.

  But though these situations, the Teachers organization and some people assert permission of corporal punishment for teacher’s right. Their assertion is when teachers teach their students, if one student disturbs class that time inflicting corporal punishment can make solve this situation immediately. Especially in high school, student’s build is as same as adult and after 1 or 2 years they will be adult so they usually slight teachers. Actually among the uploaded videos, some videos are shown fallen teacher’s authority to us and this is why the Teachers organization asserts permission of corporal punishment.

  On the contrary to this, I belong to prohibition corporal punishment side. It based on my experience that is when I was 9 years old I was slapped across in the face from my class teacher for cutting my note unnecessarily. That time I was very young and scared this situation so I didn’t tell this fact to my parents but after I grew up as adult, this experience has harassed me continuously also it might change as angry about disqualified teachers that can’t control students properly. So, I think corporal punishment is not education guideline for children. Surely a few students can’t control through expression but corporal punishment is also not only answer.

  Many experts said now Korea school need to another 3^rd answer and also side effect of corporal punishment is becoming known like depression, school refusal, aggressive operations, falling self-respect and so on. Because of these reasons, we should not accept to corporal punishment as one of guidelines.
